Dr. Mona Morstein has been a naturopathic doctor for 18 years. She earned a Summa Cum Laude BS in Foods and Nutrition from ASU in 1984. She graduated from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1988, where she was class speaker at graduation. She then did a year’s residency at NCNM in Family Practice.
After her residency, Dr. Morstein moved to Great Falls, MT, where she had a thriving clinic, The Great Falls Holistic Health Center. In her years in Montana, Dr. Morstein did dozens of speeches to physicians and all sorts of groups. She also had a weekly cable access TV show called “Natural Health”, and was a bimonthly writer on alternative medicine in the Great Falls Tribune.
Having attained a respectable position in the field of naturopathic medicine, in 2002 she was asked to join Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Morstein is Chair of Nutrition at SCNM. She teaches three nutrition courses and is also the professor for gastroenterology. She also supervises students seeing patients at Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center, the out-patient associated with the school, and has a small private practice of 16 hours a week.
Dr. Morstein is considered an expert on obesity, prediabetes/insulin resistance, and all types of diabetes. She has spoken internationally on diabetes, and has been interviewed on CNBC nationally on using alternative medicine to treat Type 2 diabetes. She has written numerous articles on diabetes, and is one of a handful of naturopathic physicians who has the skill to correctly prescribe insulin and monitor patients on it.
Dr. Mona also has a general family practice, seeing patients of all ages, infants to seniors, both sexes, including acute and chronic diseases. She has much experience in dealing with gastrointestinal conditions and in Women’s Health Care, as well as all the unfortunately common ailments which plague so many people in our Western Civilization: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, headaches, arthritis, asthma, auto-immune diseases, fatigue, depression/anxiety, and so forth.
